HAGERSTOWN, MD — This year’s event is special in that it will mark the first year of a Potomac Velo Club partnership with Mid-Atlantic Super Series (MASS) in running of the 10th Annual Greenbrier Challenge Mountain Bike Race on May 18, 2013. This AMBC/MASS/MARC event will still include a 700 rider lineup, cash purses, and a spectacular venue, but will also include MASS points for participation in the MASS Series. No matter if you are a AMBC, MARC, or MASS rider, the Greenbrier Challenge will still be considered the race that paves the road to the National & Regional Championships!
The Greenbrier Challenge will be either part of a Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship (MARC) series, or else will be a single-race Regional Championship.
As an AMBC Race, Greenbrier gives qualifications for all classes for U.S. MTB National Championships held in Bear Creek Resort, Pennsylvania, from July 17th to July 20th, 2014. The Greenbrier Challenge will be one of the few event in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region where riders can qualify for invitations to Nationals and still be part of USA Cycling’s 2014 AMBC National Calendar. Additionally, not only is the U.S. MTB National Championships is scheduled to be held at in Greenbrier’s backyard near Allentown, PA (i.e. the same venue as the Bear Creek Challenge/PA State Championship. This makes the Greenbrier Challenge the perfect venue to practice on in preparation for Nationals on the East Coast for two years in a row!
